Abstract This paper surveys possible interpretations and relevant technical considerations for an item labeled "ZXDL 153." We synthesize plausible identities (electronic device model, chemical compound identifier, protocol/standard number, or archival/document code), propose methods to identify the exact referent, outline technical and safety considerations for each class, and give recommendations for further work.
