Conan, Ran, and Kogoro visit a soap-making workshop in the forest. The owner, a female artisan, demonstrates her unique alkaline soap. Soon after, a dead body is found in a nearby river, and a woman who argued with the artisan disappears. The case appears to involve strong alkaline substances and possible poisoning. Meanwhile, Conan suspects the death is linked to the missing woman — and more importantly, a mysterious man with blonde hair and a black hat (later revealed as Subaru Okiya in disguise?
