This paper argues that entertainment content is not merely a passive reflection of popular taste but an active participant in constructing reality. Specifically, it explores the thesis that as distribution models have shifted from scarcity (network television) to abundance (digital streaming), the power of entertainment to mold individual identity has increased while its ability to forge collective social consensus has weakened.
