We introduce , a 200‑hour, high‑quality speech corpus together with a 5‑million‑word text corpus covering modern Kannada. The dataset is manually transcribed, balanced across speakers (male/female, age groups, dialects) and domains (news, literature, conversational speech). Baseline experiments for automatic speech recognition (ASR) and language modelling are reported, achieving a word error rate (WER) of 12.4 % using a hybrid TDNN‑LSTM model. The corpus is released under a permissive CC‑BY‑4.0 license to foster research on low‑resource Dravidian languages.
The impact of piracy on the Kannada film industry has been multifaceted. Firstly, it has led to a decline in box office collections, which has affected the revenue of the filmmakers. Secondly, it has discouraged filmmakers from investing in new projects, as they are wary of the potential losses due to piracy. Finally, it has also affected the livelihoods of thousands of people who are employed in the film industry, including actors, technicians, and crew members.
